GEB AU Murder Mystery

Cameras flashed as the policeman traced a chalk outline around the body on the hospital floor. "Alright, let's get him out of here," he said, scratching his upper lip through his bristly mustache. The paramedics lay the body bag down beside the corpse, lifted it up and then slid it's feet inside, and pulled it over the rest of it's body, and carried it away. The detective stood at the door of the hospital room, cigar clenched in his teeth. He removed it from his lips and snuffed it on a nearby wall.

"What's his name?" He puffed to the officer as his shiny dress shoes scuffed across the new tiled floor, leaving irritating black marks for the nurse to scrape off later. He licked his lips, the tobacco of his cigar leaving an intolerable smelling residue. The officer took off his cap and wiped his brow with the back of his uniform vest.

"Joshua Right," Officer Grey mumbled through the coughing fit the smoke had thrown him into. "He's only eighteen, poor lad," He cleared his throat and put his cap back on. "He was in the hospital for a minor spinal surgery which was scheduled for this afternoon, however..." He looked down at the chalk outline and flicked the tip of his nose with his thumb. "I don't suppose that's too much of an issue now."

"Do we have any suspects?"

"Not as of right now. We checked with his school, he doesn't have any significant ‘enemies'. He has a close circle of friends, and he not what you'd call ‘popular', but he's...he was a good kid. Average grades, no extracurricular activities. No criminal record, apart from a burglary a year back from a mini-mart, and he only stole a pack of gum," The officer tipped his hat. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going out for a breath of fresh air," he glared at the detective and hurried out of the room, his coughs echoing down the hall.

Detective Jacobs reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of latex gloves. He tugged them on over his hands and began to poke around the room, occasionally pausing to examine things. He opened the closest door and stopped. This killer must have been stupid. He bent down and lifted up a handgun with the barrel open. It was fully loaded apart from a single bullet.
